Charging & Temperature
Can I charge this battery in freezing weather?
No. Never charge this battery when the cell temperature is below 32°F (0°C).
LiFePO4 cells sustain permanent, irreversible damage when charged below freezing. Lithium plates onto the anode, and the capacity loss cannot be recovered. This is a physical limitation of the chemistry — it applies to every LiFePO4 battery on the market, not just OTIQVER.
Important distinctions:
- Discharging (powering your load) is fine down to -15°C (5°F) — this battery includes low-temperature discharge protection
- Charging must not begin below 32°F (0°C)
- Damage from below-freezing charging is not covered under warranty
What to do in cold weather:
- Let the battery sit in a warmer environment until it reaches above 32°F before charging
- Charge during the warmest part of the day
- If the battery is installed in an RV or marine compartment, use a battery heater pad or insulate the compartment
- A battery that has been indoors and just installed may charge safely if its internal temperature is still above freezing — feel the case; if it feels cold to the touch, wait
What charger should I use?
Use a charger specifically designed for 24V (25.6V) LiFePO4 batteries with a CC/CV profile:
- 24V 100Ah — recommended charger: 24V LiFePO4, 14.6V / 20A (0.2C). Full charge in about 5–6 hours
- 24V 200Ah — recommended charger: 24V LiFePO4, 14.6V / 40A (0.2C). Full charge in about 5–6 hours
The charger must terminate at 14.6V and must NOT use a desulfation or "wake-up" mode.
Can I use my existing lead-acid charger?
Not recommended. Lead-acid chargers typically charge to 14.4V (leaving your LiFePO4 battery uncharged) or include desulfation pulses that can damage the BMS. Some also fail to terminate properly.
If you must use one, verify that it has a dedicated LiFePO4 / Lithium mode and terminates at 14.6V.
Does this battery have low-temperature charging protection?
No. Neither the 24V 100Ah nor the 24V 200Ah includes low-temperature charge protection or a heating film. Both models include low-temperature discharge protection at -15°C (5°F).
Because there is no charge-side cutoff, you are responsible for ensuring the battery is above 32°F before charging. We state this plainly rather than burying it, so you can make an informed decision and protect your investment.
Capacity & Performance
How much usable capacity do I actually get?
100% of rated capacity. Unlike lead-acid batteries (which should only be discharged to 50%), LiFePO4 gives you the full rated capacity:
- 24V 100Ah — 2,560Wh (2.56 kWh) usable
- 24V 200Ah — 5,120Wh (5.12 kWh) usable
Example: a 24V 100Ah running a 1,000W inverter will run approximately 2.3 hours under continuous load (accounting for inverter efficiency).
How long will this battery last?
LiFePO4 chemistry delivers thousands of charge-discharge cycles under normal use — typically 10× the lifespan of a comparable lead-acid battery. We warranty 80% capacity retention for 5 years, and we publish that number so you can hold us to it.
Why does my battery show less than 100% on my monitor?
Battery monitors estimate state of charge based on voltage and current. LiFePO4 has a very flat discharge curve, which makes voltage-based estimation unreliable. For accurate readings, use a coulomb-counting monitor (such as a Victron BMV or SmartShunt) that tracks current over time.
Compatibility & Installation
Can I connect two batteries in parallel?
Yes. Connecting batteries of the same model and age in parallel increases capacity (Ah) while keeping voltage at 24V. For example, two 24V 100Ah batteries in parallel = 24V 200Ah.
Before connecting in parallel:
- Both batteries must be at the same state of charge (within 5%)
- Use equal-length, appropriately sized cable for each battery
- Install a fuse or breaker on the positive lead of each battery
Can I connect two batteries in series to make 48V?
Contact us before attempting this. Series connection requires batteries with matched BMS configurations and specific balance considerations. Email support@otiqver.com with your system voltage, inverter size, and wiring plan, and we will confirm compatibility for your specific setup.
What size cable and fuse do I need?
- 24V 100Ah (100A BMS) — 2 AWG cable, 125A Class T fuse or 100–150A breaker
- 24V 200Ah (200A BMS) — 4/0 AWG cable, 250A Class T fuse or 200–250A breaker
Fuses must be installed as close to the battery terminal as possible. Undersized cable or an incorrectly rated fuse is a fire hazard.
What terminals does it use?
Both models use M8 stainless steel terminal bolts. Ring terminals are not included — use tinned copper lugs sized for your cable.
Does it have Bluetooth or a display?
No. Neither model includes Bluetooth, an LCD screen, or a mobile app.
This is a deliberate design decision: we invested in higher-grade cells and a robust BMS rather than add-on electronics. If you want real-time monitoring, pair the battery with a quality external monitor (Victron, Renogy, or similar) — it will give you far more accurate data than a built-in Bluetooth module anyway.
Choosing Between Models
100Ah or 200Ah — which should I buy?
| Use case | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Small RV, weekend trips, running lights + fan + phone charging | 24V 100Ah |
| Solar storage for a shed, cabin, or gate system | 24V 100Ah |
| Running a 12V refrigerator in a van or truck | 24V 100Ah |
| Large RV with microwave, coffee maker, or induction cooktop | 24V 200Ah |
| Whole-house backup for essentials (router, CPAP, lights, fridge) | 24V 200Ah |
| Solar array 3kW+ with daily cycling | 24V 200Ah |
Quick math: A 24V 100Ah gives you 2.56 kWh. A 1,000W load runs about 2.3 hours. If you need more than 5 hours at that load, step up to the 200Ah.
Why is the 100Ah only 6.7 inches wide?
The 24V 100Ah measures 19.02 × 6.7 × 9.45 inches and weighs 39.68 lbs (42.11 lbs packaged). At 6.7 inches wide, it fits standard RV battery boxes and marine compartments where 9–10 inch batteries simply will not go.
If you have ever measured a compartment and found a "typical" 24V battery is half an inch too wide, you understand the value of that 6.7.

Yes, if you are in the Pomona / Inland Empire area. Place your order online, then email us your order number with "PICKUP REQUEST" in the subject line. Bring a valid photo ID and your order confirmation.
Is a signature required?
Due to the value and hazmat classification of lithium batteries, carriers may require a signature at delivery. Please ensure someone is available at the delivery address.
Warranty & Returns
What does the warranty cover?
5 years from the date of purchase, covering ≥ 80% capacity retention, BMS defects, cell defects, and workmanship. Full terms in our Warranty Policy.
How is the 80% capacity retention tested?
Rated capacity is measured under standard test conditions: 25°C (77°F), 0.5C discharge rate, from full charge to the BMS low-voltage cutoff. If your battery delivers less than 80% of rated capacity under these conditions during the warranty period, we repair or replace it.
What if I damage the battery by charging below freezing?
Damage caused by charging below 32°F (0°C) is not covered under warranty. This is stated in our Terms of Service and on this page. If you are unsure whether your battery is safe to charge, email us first — we would rather answer a question than process a denied claim.
How do returns work?
30-day returns on unused products in original packaging. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility, and a 15% restocking fee applies to non-defective returns. Defective products are refunded 100% with no restocking fee. Full details in our Refund & Return Policy.
Still Have Questions?
Email support@otiqver.com with your question, your intended use (RV, solar, marine, golf cart, home backup), and your system details (inverter size, charger model, wiring). We answer within one business day (Mon–Fri, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time).
We would rather spend five minutes confirming your setup than process a return.
